Abstract
Malnutrition has many origins. Children and elderly are specifically concerned. Impact of malnutrition is important, particularly on infectious diseases. Antibiotics are given when metabolism is altered and use of those needs to consider specific rules of pharmacokinetics in order to be safe and efficient. Lots of paediatric studies have been published on this subject and the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends therapeutic protocol for malnourished children in emerging countries. But so far, the relationship between antibiotics and malnutrition in elderly has been less documented.
