Abstract
Diarrhea is the main symptom of infection by Cyclospora cayetanensis. It has been reported in tropical areas. The transmission is by oro-fecal route, by ingestion of infested water or foods. Diagnosis is asserted when the parasites are found in stools samples. The most effective drug is co-trimoxazole, and possibly replaced by ciprofloxacine. Prophylaxis needs control measures on water supply and foods.
