Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine if labels exist and are applied by home visitors, to teen mothers at risk for abusing and neglecting their children. The selection of respondents was conducted by means of purposeful sampling (N = 10). Face-to-face interviews were conducted. Results indicate that home visitors do label their clients and possible repercussions for the teen mothers are mentioned. The findings from this and ongoing research will help inform the design of home visiting programs and trainings attended by providers, so that they may better serve the families who receive their services.
