Abstract

•We translated PIMRS into Turkish using a back translation method.•We used various techniques to examine validity and reliability of the instrument.•We developed a valid and reliable instrument instructional leadership in the Turkish education context.•Turkish principals seemed less engaged in instructional leadership when compared to a multi-country data set of principals.
