Abstract
SynopsisThe organizational cultures of professional faculties are regulated by an inherited and implicit social structure that has shaped the field and professional identity of professors. This is particularly problematic for academic women who are positioned within this double entanglement of balancing the demands of femininity with those of intellectual life. This narrative inquiry reveals the interacting and competing factors that influence and impact academic women within the confines of their professional and personal lives and provides a narrative space where academic women can join together to challenge the social interpretations of their existence.
