Abstract
Pleural disease is a common clinical problem, encompassing a wide range of underlying pathologies. Patients with pleural disease are encountered both by respiratory specialists and general physicians and a systematic approach to their management helps to optimize patient care and minimize unnecessary investigations. This review focusses on the clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with pleural disease and provides some practical suggestions regarding investigation and management.
