Abstract
Bites and stings are common in many tropical countries. Snakebite predominantly affects the rural poor and causes both morbidity and mortality. The clinical features of snake envenoming depend upon the species: both local and systemic envenoming can occur. Spider bites and scorpion, fish and jellyfish stings can all cause significant morbidity, and occasional mortality.
