Abstract
Febrile episodes in immunocompromised patients are a very common complication and are mostly related to infectious etiologies. The early start of active antibiotic treatment against the microorganism responsible is the main factor that determines favorable outcomes for patients. In most cases, the etiology is not apparent, the responsible microorganism is not detected, and over the course of symptom progression the correct diagnosis is not reached. For this reason, various clinical guidelines have been developed that are generally based on the underlying characteristics, patient epidemiological data, treatments applied and the form and severity of the presentation of the infectious condition.
