Abstract
States of iron overload are induced by genetic and acquired diseases. Hemochromatosis is the most frequent genetic cause. Between acquired causes, chronic liver and blood diseases are relevant. The diagnosis often is complex, being necessary to carry both biochemical, genetic analysis or invasive testing.
