Abstract
This article discusses the performance and interpretation of exercise electrocardiography (ECG). Exercise ECG provides both diagnostic and prognostic information in patients with suspected or proven coronary artery disease. Exercise ECG cannot confirm or exclude coronary artery disease, but when combined with information about the patient’s clinical status, the likelihood of this can be estimated; the results of the test also enable patients to be placed in low-, intermediate- and high-risk prognostic groups, which can help guide decisions on coronary angiography and revascularization.
