Abstract
Malaria and babesiosis are two protozoan diseases produced by Plasmodium and Babesia respectively. Malaria is transmitted through the bites of female Anopheles mosquitoes and babesia is transmitted through the tick bite, transplacental or blood transfusion. Malaria is a life threating infection and the incidence is high in tropical areas. The impact of babesiosis is lower but Europe and Unites States are the most affected areas. Both, malaria and babesia, act by modifying the erythrocytes. It occurs a febrile illness and it includes asymptomatic patients or severe cases. The diagnostic procedure consist in the microscopic blood examination. There are several treatment options. It is essential to be early and to focus on prevention of malaria transmission.
