Abstract
A skin ulcer is a disruption of the epithelial surface that creates a discontinuity with little tendency to spontaneous healing. This will depend on largely control etiologic factors such as vascular disease and prolonged immobilization in the case of pressure ulcers. The diagnosis of some types of ulcers will be directed also by their location and personal history of the patient, but sometimes a biopsy must be performed to establish the correct diagnosis.
