Abstract
A coma is a vital emergency needs for proper management of diagnostic evaluation and therapeutic approach simultaneously. The hemodynamic stabilization of the patient is the goal at first, ensuring patency of the airway, ventilation and adequate blood pressure control. In a second time, with the patient already stabilized, the goal is to reach an etiological diagnosis of the box. In the systemic cause coma diagnosis strongly suggested by the patient's history and clinical context, will be confirmed by laboratory tests. By contrast, the structural cause coma, are central imaging tests to achieve (cranial CT in the initial evaluation) etiological diagnosis is not met if the studio with lumbar puncture and electroencephalogram is complete. The treatment will be the cause, supplemented with supportive and therapeutic approach of intracranial hypertension, if it is present.
