Abstract
In intensive care units (ICU) a very high number of nosocomial infection in proportion to the rest of the hospital is concentrated. These infections are often associated with the use of invasive devices and are often caused by multiresistant microorganisms. Nosocomial infections in critically ill patients are associated with a significant increase in morbidity and resource consumption. For all these reasons, in recent years they have launched various initiatives to prevent the development of infections in the ICU. This chapter nosocomial infections typically associated with UCI, with particular emphasis on prevention of these are reviewed.
