Abstract
Obstruction of left ventricular outflow tract in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is responsible for the symptoms, and sometimes, the prognosis of these patients. Pharmacological treatment is indicated with beta blockers and/or non-dihydropyridine calcium antagonists, the third option is the disopyramide. If symptoms persist, there is the possibility of invasive treatment, either surgical (septal myectomy that could be completed with intervention at mitral valve and subvalvular apparatus) or percutaneous (intracoronary alcohol septal ablation).
