Abstract
Pancreatic cancer (PC) is the 4th leading cause of cancer-related deaths and, despite the multiples advances; it still presents a dreadful prognosis. Most important risk factors are tobacco consumption and genetic predisposition. Multidetector computed tomography and endoscopic ultrasound are the techniques of choice for the diagnosis and staging of the disease. In resectable tumors surgery is the treatment of choice, with the association of adjuvant chemotherapy. For unresectable tumors, best treatment is palliative chemotherapy. Biliary and/or gut obstructions are accepted indications for endoscopic stenting. It is very important to keep an optimal nutritional status, based mainly in pancreatic enzyme therapy, because it improves PC prognosis.
