Our study showed a higher rate of complications after extended pelvic lymphadenectomy but of low grade in most cases. Moreover the lateral dissection sparing the lateral side of the iliac artery reduced the risk of lymphatic complications without decreasing the number of lymph nodes removed and the rate of metastasis.
