ResumenSe presenta una revisión de diferentes asuntos conceptuales y prácticos en relación al espacio sociosanitario como oportunidad para observar lo social desde diversas ópticas que contribuyan al mejor entendimiento de su influencia en la determinación de lo mórbido a nivel colectivo en nuestros adultos mayores. Se presentan y discuten diferentes aproximaciones al tema. Aportes desde la demografía, sociología y antropología son entregados. Se revisa el sistema de protección social vigente en Chile a la fecha.
