Abstract
The results of the first year since the establishment of the CPD-PC (continuing professional development-primary care) project of SEMERGEN are evaluated. The period includes the months from October 2008 up to and including September 2009. Variables such as the distribution of the professionals by Regional Communities (RC), the academic and professional profile of the Primary Care (PC) physician who initiates a CPD project, the competences carried out the most, and the grade of performance of the areas of training that make up the competences have been studied. The regional communities having the greatest number of professionals registered in the CPD-PC are those of Madrid, Catalonia, Andalusia, the Basque Country and Castilla y León. The professional registered in the CPD is a middle-aged subject, who has a mean of 10 years of professional experience in Primary Care and whose place of work is preferentially urban. Among the competences performed the most, we can mention evaluation of cardiovascular risk, attention to the elderly, high blood pressure and diabetes mellitus.
