A pesar de la presión asistencial que existe en Atención Primaria (AP) tenemos varias ventajas; somos el primer contacto con la sanidad pública, los pacientes acuden de forma habitual a las consultas de AP por distintos motivos, de esta manera tenemos una visión global de los pacientes que nos visitan. Por otro lado se consigue una relación médico-paciente más estrecha, existiendo una confianza mutua mayor.Las consultas por fertilidad (por deseo de embarazo) tanto en Primaria como en atención especializada han aumentado en los últimos años. Habitualmente los médicos de AP se limitan a realizar una derivación al especialista de referencia tras la inquietud de los pacientes. Este artículo pretende poner en conocimiento de estos profesionales la posibilidad de realizar unas intervenciones mínimas (pruebas complementarias básicas y enseñar a la pareja los indicadores de fertilidad e infertilidad) para conocer si hay algún problema orgánico que dificulte el embarazo, y poner en conocimiento de los usuarios unas herramientas básicas para favorecer el embarazo.
