Abstract
Ultrasonography is a technique that originated as a link to radiodiagnosis but which has been progressively used by other specialties. Currently, the use of this technique is beginning in Primary Health Care. Thus, we believe that the professional must be trained and become familiar with this exciting diagnostic technique that manages to improve the quality of our attention. In this article we are going to explain the basic concepts of the ultrasonographic technique, describing its language, the functioning of the ultrasonograph, its transducers and artifacts, and then will explain the advantages and disadvantages of this techniques.
