Abstract
The relationship between sleep and epilepsy has been recognized since antiquity. Before the last few decades, however, knowledge in this area was based solely on clinical observations. More recently, the availability of long-term monitoring and polysomnography has significantly extended early observations. This article addresses the more established relationships between sleep and epilepsy.
