Abstract

The linkage approach to quantitative traits, such as estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), has been utilized in several recent studies aimed at identification of susceptibility loci. However, the heterogeneity and complex architecture of the eGFR phenotype make the gene mapping efforts inherently difficult. Mottl and colleagues attempt to tackle this problem in their analysis of a unique family-based cohort of American Indians.
