Abstract
Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is a series of actions and diagnostic procedures that make it possible to identify the presence or absence of a specific disease-associated genetic or cytogenetic anomaly in an embryo prior to its transfer to the uterus. Although these procedures are regulated by Spanish law, several of the methodological aspects involved merit further analysis and consensus by experts. For this reason, the PGD committee of the Spanish Association for Human Genetics has drafted a consensus document that will serve as a guide to best practices in PGD.
