Abstract
It is the recipient parents' choice on whether to disclose the fact of donor conception to their offspring. In recent years, mental health professionals, clinicians, and children themselves have called for more openness in donor conception, in order to protect the interests of the offspring. Even if the Spanish law on assisted reproduction does not address this matter, there is an increasingly growing current of thought in our country that considers disclosing as something positive. A review of the studies carried out in 9 countries on children born following a gamete donation presents 2 different topics: donor anonymity and disclosing the way the children have been conceived. A total of 26 studies met the inclusion criteria. The review shows that the majority of parents decide to disclose and when doing it, early ages seem to be better. No studies on how to disclose is described. Further research is needed in our country on how and when to disclose.
