Abstract
Fetal medicine is a rapidly evolving speciality with improving imaging, prenatal diagnosis and evolving technology. Advances in fetal therapy have enabled us to prevent and treat conditions and improve outcome. Although the most common forms of fetal therapy used currently are preventative non-invasive methods, invasive fetal therapies, both pharmacological and surgical are rapidly evolving. As interventions become more widely available, care must be taken in selecting patients, and consideration must be given to long-term outcomes and risks and benefits to mother and the fetus. This article discusses the established therapeutic strategies as well as those that are currently being evaluated.
