Abstract
Hysteroscopy allows the visualization of the uterine and endocervical cavity under direct vision. Innovations in endoscopic procedures over the last few decades has made hysteroscopy and hysteroscopic surgery more accessible to gynaecology surgeons, and to perform a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on the uterus. Hysteroscopic surgery should be performed by a skilled surgeon to ensure safe practice and good patient outcomes. This review will discuss the basic principles involved in hysteroscopic surgery and will examine the current evidence for the clinical outcomes of different types of hysteroscopic surgery.
