Abstract
With the advent of hysteroscopic surgery, gynaecologists are now able to treat a multitude of benign gynaecological conditions via this minimally invasive technique rather than open surgery. This has no doubt improved patients’ treatment outcome and satisfaction. A hysteroscopic surgeon should be adequately trained in performing the surgery, able to select the right patient for appropriate indications and be skilled in the organization of his/her surgical team as well as able to follow safety rules. This review will discuss the basic principles involved in hysteroscopy and hysteroscopic surgery; and will examine the current evidence for the clinical outcomes of the different types of hysteroscopic surgery.
