Abstract
Increased expression of GLUT-1 compared with that of CAIX and HKII supports the notion that carcinomas have high glucose consumption. Coexpression of GLUT-1 with CAIX and HKII as preexisting biological factors could help to elucidate the mechanisms of hypoxia in tumoral invasion. Coexpression could also help to explain the possible effect of these markers on response to treatments such as exclusive radiotherapy and concurrent radiochemotherapy in the management of stage iiB and iiiB cervical cancer.
