Abstract
First trimester screening is a valid method to establish risk of trisomy 21 in pregnant women in our population; it improves on the prenatal detection rate of trisomy 21 obtained solely considering maternal age. It also enables aneuploidy and foetal malformations to be detected early and decreases the number of invasive tests.
