Axillary web syndrome

ResumenEl axillary web syndrome es una complicación de las linfadenectomías axilares que se observa con cierta frecuencia. Por ello resulta sorprendente que hasta muy recientemente no se haya realizado ninguna revisión en profundidad de este syndrome y que no se encuentre ninguna referencia en publicaciones españolas. Su desconocimiento puede llevar a proponer tratamientos inútiles o contraindicados.Presentamos un caso de formación de cordones fibrosos en la axila con limitación de la movilidad articular escapulohumeral y revisamos la literature científica.

Axillary web syndrome is a not uncommon complication of axillary lymph node dissection. Consequently, it is surprising that the first in-depth review of this syndrome was published only a few years ago and that not a single article on this entity can be found in the Spanish language. Lack of awareness of this complication might lead to useless or contraindicated therapies being prescribed.We present the case of a patient with an axillary web of tissue and limited range of motion in the shoulder and provide a review of the literature.
