Abstract
Diagnosis is usually made through examination of the abdominal cavity during laparotomy. This practice is unusual in gynecologic surgery, especially in obstetric surgery. Because abdominal cavity examination does not pose a risk to the patient and provides useful information, we recommend that it become routine surgical practice.
