Abstract
The risk of residual tumor is high in patients with in situ carcinoma and extensive tumoral involvement of the resection margins. Other factors independently related to the occurrence of positive margins were tumoral size, axillary infiltration, and involvement of more than 2 margins. These factors should also be taken into account during surgical planning.
