Abstract
SummaryThe resuscitation of babies at birth is different from the resuscitation of all other age groups, and knowledge of the relevant physiology and pathophysiology is essential. Although the majority of babies will establish normal respiration and circulation without help after delivery, those babies who do not establish adequate regular normal breathing, or who have a heart rate of less than 100 beats per minute, require assistance. Despite the limitation of the available evidence, an international body of experts has provided guidelines for neonatal resuscitation.
