Abstract
A 47-year-old woman with gum cancer was diagnosed with acute endogenous endophthalmitis. Serratia marcescens was cultured from the vitreous and blood samples. A venous access port for chemotherapy was the only identifiable source of infection. After receiving systemic antibiotics therapy, the patient recovered from the bacteremia but lost her vision as a result of Serratia endophthalmitis.
