Abstract
I hope that following this pathway will lead to many straightforward hip replacements. It will help the surgeon anticipate potential problems preoperatively and develop an understanding of how and why things are not always exactly as described in most textbooks. This in turn will lead to a constant fine tuning of the surgeon's techniques and a continual improvement in the outcomes of hip replacement surgery for the patient.
