Abstract
SummaryThe principles of solid mechanics have many important applications in orthopaedics. The aim of this paper is to cover the basic concepts of statics and dynamics, including both kinetics and kinematics. The equations most commonly used in biomechanical analysis are introduced and examples are given of their use in orthopaedic applications.
