Abstract
In comparison with rigid fixation, some potential advantages of using PEEK rod systems include a reduced stress on adjacent segment disc and facet joint, and the elastic ability of PEEK rod fixation allows for a greater range of motion, which may reduce the incidence of clinical complications seen with rigid fusion devices.
