Abstract
A union rate of 90% can be achieved in cases of supraintercondylar fracture of the femur when treated with condylar buttress plates; however, the functional outcome can be fair to poor. Furthermore, the stability of fixation achieved with this technique is insufficient, which leads to a high rate of malunion.
