Abstract
Intraosseous gouty tophus is a very rare condition, and only three cases involving the talus with cystic formation have been reported in the literature. We identified a simple cystic lesion of the talus complicated by secondary intracystic gouty tophus deposition. The lesion was treated with total curettage and filled with a bony substitute of calcium sulfate pellets impregnated with autogenous bone marrow. At the 1-year follow-up, the patient demonstrated a good range of motion of the ankle joint. He was asymptomatic, and the radiographs showed total filling of the cyst with good bony union.
