Abstract
Injury to the musculocutaneous nerve is uncommon in athletes, but also regularly missed. Strength training is the main culprit, with elbow flexion against resistance and certain sports, e.g. weight lifting, rowing, American football, causing most of the damage. The clinical diagnosis is straightforward once a neurological mechanism has been entertained as a possibility. Electrophysiological recordings confirm the suspected diagnosis. Treatment must be adapted to the causal mechanism, targeting symptom relief.
