Abstract
The musculus brachialis myositis ossificans circumscripta (MOC) are usually found in children after elbow fractures treated with massages. We report the case of a 20-year-old professional rugby player who presented a severe functional impairement when he was practicing rugby after direct trauma on the right arm during a match. A large calcified hematoma of the musculus brachialis was identified on standard X-rays and was confirmed by sonography. Surgical resection was therefore requested and histological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of circumscribed myositis ossificans. An immobilization by sling was for 15Â days and associated to a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory treatment. The result after 1Â year was excellent: the patient has resumed rugby competition without discomfort and no recurrence of the ossification.
