Abstract
Pectoralis-major tendon rupture is a rare injury. It occurs in young, healthy athletes during violent, eccentric contraction of the muscle with the arm held in an abducted, extended position. Often undiagnosed at the beginning, the diagnosis is confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging. Early operative treatment is associated with better outcome than delayed treatment; however, both of them are better than conservative treatment.
