Abstract
There are many situations leading athletes to seek the advice of a rheumatologist. Desiring to preserve the athlete's health, the clinician usually advises against self-medication, frequently observed in young subjects whether they practice sports or not. For competition athletes, it is essential that the remedies proposed are not on the list of prohibited substances or require a standard or abridged authorization for therapeutic use. In this second part, we discuss the use of remedies for rheumatologic conditions considered as appropriate for athletes: analgesics, muscle relaxing agents, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, infiltrations. Widespread use does not mean these products are without risk. The problem of the use of glucocorticoids is discussed in a first article.
