Abstract
Closed wedge high tibial osteotomy is the traditional method to treat medial osteoarthritis of the knee. Nowadays it is peformed less frequently because of the increasing importance of open wedge osteotomy. Nevertheless, there are indications in which the classic technique should be preferred. In this article indication, planning, and the authors’ preferred technique are presented and discussed. Correct indication, planning, and a precise surgical technique results in a long lasting follow-up for at least 10 years.
