Abstract

The use of computer navigation is the best method currently available to eliminate alignment outliers in total knee replacement surgery. As close to a 0° mechanical hip-knee-ankle alignment axis is desired to maximize polyethylene wear and lengthen implant longevity. This is most important for younger patients who need their implants to last as long as possible. This article discussed the technique for use of the computer navigation for total knee replacement surgery. It has been found to be very user friendly, accurate, and with minimal complications.
