Abstract
Conservative management of osteoporotic ankle fractures is associated with high displacement rates and elderly patients are often unable to restrict their weight bearing, leading to longer hospital stays. Operative surgery is challenging and may lead to loss of reduction or implant failure from screw 'cut out'. This paper describes some of the operative techniques in this difficult group of patients.
