Abstract
Surgical approaches to the elbow can be challenging in both trauma and elective settings. Knowledge of the neurovascular and musculotendinous anatomy is crucial to provide safe and optimal access to the desired part of the elbow joint. This review describes common approaches to the posterior, lateral and medial aspects of the elbow. It should be noted that more than one approach can be combined, often utilizing the same skin incision.
