Abstract
Difficult to learn, the middle fossa approach depends on recognizing the surgical landmarks of the anterosuperior surface of the petrous bone. Extradural, preserving the bony labyrinth, and controlling the entire internal acoustic meatus, it is an important approach in skull base surgery.
