Abstract

Partial cricotracheal resection (CTR) for the treatment of subglottic stenosis has been reported, in children, with decannulation rates of 90% for refractory grades 3 and 4 stenoses. In view of these findings, it has become imperative for pediatric otolaryngologists to add CTR to their surgical armamentarium for the management of severe subglottic stenosis. The authors have described preoperative evaluation, patient selection, operative technique, and possible complications of CTR in this article.
